COSHH guide
Create a COSHH assessment online
EasyCOSHH turns a product's Safety Data Sheet and a few answers about how you use it into a completed COSHH assessment, following HSE guidance. Most people finish one in under 2 minutes once they have the SDS.
How it works
- Find your product in our SDS library, search for its SDS online, or upload the PDF yourself
- We read the hazards, exposure limits, first aid, storage, spill and disposal sections
- Answer quick questions: the task, how much, how often, who's exposed, ventilation and existing controls
- Check the free on-screen preview, then download the PDF and editable Word document
What you get
- Product and supplier details, taken from the Safety Data Sheet
- Hazard classification: signal word, GHS pictograms and H-statements (GB CLP)
- Routes of exposure and workplace exposure limits (EH40) where the SDS gives them
- Who could be exposed, including vulnerable groups
- A risk rating before and after controls, using HSE's COSHH essentials banding
- Control measures in hierarchy order, PPE, storage, spillage, first aid and disposal
- Health surveillance and monitoring where relevant, emergency information, a review date and a sign-off box
Doing a lot of products?
Use bulk SDS upload to prepare a draft for every product at once, then finalise them one by one or all together. Group finished assessments into COSHH files by site, download one combined PDF, or share a read-only link and QR label.
Your responsibility
The assessment is a well-structured draft. As the employer you must check it against the SDS and the real work, adapt it and sign it off. For high-risk substances such as carcinogens, isocyanates, asbestos or lead, use a competent person; we flag these.
Questions
How much does it cost?
Your first 5 assessments are free with an account. After that it's £2.99 each, 99p each with a £5, £10 or £20 top-up, or up to 100 a month on the Max plan for £29.99 a month (from 30p each).
Do I need the Safety Data Sheet?
It gives the best result. If you don't have it, search our library or the web from the product box, or type the product name and the hazard statements from the label.
Important
EasyCOSHH is a tool, not professional advice. You must check each assessment against the supplier's Safety Data Sheet and your actual work, adapt it and sign it off. For high-risk substances (carcinogens, asbestos, lead, respiratory sensitisers such as isocyanates) use a competent person. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by HSE.
